Steven C. McGaver

Biography

Steve McGaver is an equity shareholder with Crivello, Nichols & Hall, S.C. His practice areas include a diverse mix of litigation cases including products liability, federal civil rights litigation, government affairs, commercial property tax litigation, and white collar criminal defense. Steve also defends state, county, and local governmental entities and officials in state and federal legal actions involving alleged civil rights infringements and complex constitutional issues. He has successfully defended numerous counties, municipalities, public officials, businesses, and insurers in matters involving allegations of infringement of civil rights. He frequently presents on a diverse area of legal topics.

Steve is a 2006 graduate of Marquette University Law School, cum laude, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and Marquette University High School. He joined the firm in 2019 after practicing in Milwaukee for the past 14 years. His skill and drive is not only apparent to his clients, it has also caught the attention of his law colleagues. Steve has been recognized as a AV Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell, he has been awarded a 10.0 Rating by AVVO, and he has been recognized as a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers for the past several years--an honor bestowed on only 2.5 percent of attorneys in Wisconsin. He is a former director with the State Bar of Wisconsin’s Young Lawyer’s Division, served on the Board of the Milwaukee Bar Association, and Served as a Past President of the Milwaukee Young Lawyers Association. Steve Has also served on the board of numerous practice sections with the State Bar of Wisconsin. He was also recognized by the Wisconsin Law Journal as an Up and Coming Lawyer in 2009.

Steve lives in the Milwaukee area with his wife and two children. He enjoys cooking, boating, fishing, watersports, and volunteering in his community, his children’s school, and church. Steve is also an avid ice hockey player and coach, and he serves on the board of a local youth hockey organization.
